Pray like a Pro

So, my local team, the New England Patriots are playing some other team this weekend.  I know who they are- but really, the team is not important because it is all about Tim Tebow.   No, it isn’t really about Tim...it is about his praying.

Come on...really? Does God really care about a football game?  Maybe the better question for me to ask is ... is there anything about which God doesn’t care? (that grammar is for you, Grammar Police!)   I have a hard time imaging that if all the fans at Gillette stadium this Saturday night did the “Tebow” that God would suddenly appear in the form of a dove guiding a Brady pass into the end zone.

It irks me that praying is being mocked and yet, every time I see Tim Tebow take a knee and place a fist on his head I cringe.  I am all about prayer  - I love to give thanks when something goes well for me  but I think I pray hardest when things are going to hell in a handbasket.  So, to that end...  I would love to see Tim kneel and pray when he gets sacked.    In fact, this Saturday,  I’d like to see that a lot....

The grammar police are pleased. As to football.......well, just not a fan, but it has always annoyed me to see sports figures praying before a game. Let's hope they're praying they don't hurt anyone, but then, isn't that what football is all about?

I respectfully disagree. Its not so much about the football game. A lot of people pray for little things that are important to them. It's not vey fair to croticize people about how they pray. There's a million different ways to pray and everybody does it differently. Im sure thats not the only time Tebow prays and frankly i think he's a very admirable person.

Dear Anonymous,
Thanks for your comments. I'm sorry the post made you feel that I was criticizing prayer. My intent was to express my distress at how prayer had been mocked - as a direct result of the "Tebowing." I agree that people pray for all kinds of things and in all kinds of ways (see the line about God caring about everything from the blog posting.)
Blessings to you,
Jen
